Product Description
The Franklin FPS-3A-04TS is a 4-inch multistage submersible bore pump for bore-water supply, tank filling, irrigation and pressure boosting. This 0.37kW model has a three-phase motor.
The package combines a TriSeal pump end with a corrosion-resistant Franklin 4-inch submersible motor and includes a cable splice kit.
Applications
- Domestic and rural bore-water supply.
- Tank filling and stock watering.
- Irrigation.
- Pressure boosting.
Performance
- Flow at approximately 25m head: 45L/min.
- Maximum head: approximately 35m at zero flow.
These figures are approximate readings from the FPS 3A performance curve. Actual flow depends on the pumping water level, delivery height, required outlet pressure and pipe resistance. Use the 3A-04TS curve to check the required duty.
Construction and water suitability
The TriSeal floating-stage design allows each impeller to move independently while maintaining a seal, helping reduce internal leakage and abrasive wear. Use in a properly developed bore with minimal sand or sediment.
- 300-series stainless-steel impeller hubs support the floating-stage seals.
- Acetal impellers and modified PPO diffusers provide resistance to abrasive wear.
- A phenolic washer provides downthrust protection.
- A ceramic shaft sleeve and rubber discharge bearing protect the shaft.
- A removable, spring-loaded non-return valve is built into the pump.
Installation and controls
- Pump diameter at the widest point: allow up to 99.1mm, including the cable guard. Allow additional bore clearance for the electrical cable and installation fittings.
- Position: keep the complete pump and motor submerged and at least 1.5m above the bore bottom.
- Motor cooling: water must flow past the motor before entering the pump. Fit a suitable flow sleeve where the installation cannot provide the required cooling flow.
Support the assembly with suitable pipework and a safety cable; never lift or suspend it by the electrical cable. Extend the motor lead with correctly sized submersible cable and a waterproof cable joint.
Water temperature: up to 30°C for the standard Franklin motor application. The pump end is rated to 49°C; follow the supplied motor’s nameplate and cooling instructions for the complete assembly.
Automatic tank filling or pressure operation requires suitable level or pressure controls. Provide suitable three-phase starting equipment and overload protection matched to the motor nameplate. Size the cable for the installation. Use dry-running protection where the water level can fall below the pump.
