Product Description
The Lowara 16GS22-3 is a compact 4-inch multistage submersible bore pump for clean-water supply, irrigation and pressure boosting. This 2.2kW model uses a three-phase 415V power supply.
Applications
- Water supply from drilled wells or cisterns.
- Tank filling and domestic or commercial water supply.
- Sprinkler irrigation.
- Pressure boosting.
- Fire-water supply.
Performance
- Flow at 33.2m head: 260L/min.
- Maximum head: 56.9m at zero flow.
Actual flow depends on the pumping water level, delivery height, required outlet pressure and pipe resistance.
The performance point above is published at 260L/min. The 270LPM recommended volume beside the price is a selection guide. Use the 16GS22 performance curve to check flow at the total head required by your installation.
Construction and water suitability
For clean water with a maximum sand content of 150g/m3. The front wear ring and floating impellers help resist wear from sand abrasion.
- Precision-cast stainless-steel upper and lower supports provide a durable coupling to the motor.
- A hexagonal pump shaft provides positive drive to the impellers.
- A stainless-steel non-return valve is built into the pump head.
Installation and controls
Keep the complete assembly submerged and clear of the bore bottom and sediment.
- Water cover while pumping: at least 1m above the pump outlet.
- Pump diameter allowance: up to 99mm, including the cable cover.
- Bore clearance: the bore’s internal diameter must be at least 3mm larger than the pump diameter. Also allow room for the electrical cable and installation fittings.
Motor cooling: water must flow past the motor at the speed required by the supplied motor’s instructions. Fit a suitable cooling sleeve if the installation cannot provide that cooling flow, including unsuitable wide-bore, cistern or tank arrangements.
Use suitable pipework and a separate safety cable, attached to the pump’s designated fastening point. Never lift or suspend the pump by its electrical cable. Cable extensions require suitable submersible cable and a waterproof joint.
Maximum water temperature in contact with the motor is 35°C, subject to the supplied motor’s temperature and cooling requirements.
Automatic tank filling or pressure operation requires suitable level or pressure controls. Three-phase operation requires suitable starting equipment and motor overload protection matched to the motor nameplate. Size the cable for the installation. Use dry-running protection where the water level can fall.
Limits for the 4OS motor configuration
These limits apply when the pump is fitted with a 4OS motor. Check the supplied motor’s nameplate and instructions; other motor configurations can have different limits.
- Maximum immersion depth: 150m below the water surface.
- Maximum supply-voltage variation: ±10%.
- Maximum starts: 30 per hour, evenly distributed.
- Horizontal operation: permitted for 4OS motors up to 2.2kW, subject to the manufacturer’s installation and cooling requirements.
Hydraulic efficiency
Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI): ≥ 0.4.
MEI is a standardised index used to assess hydraulic pump efficiency. This meets the minimum index stated in the manufacturer’s ecodesign documentation. It does not mean 40% efficiency and does not describe the combined efficiency of the pump and motor.
